Russia will soon start processes of finding their 2020 contestant with the participating broadcaster, Channel One.
The last contestant to represent Russia in Eurovision was Sergey Lazarev who competed for the second time gaining the 3rd place in both of his attempts. Lazarev was selected internally from the national broadcaster. From 2012, Russia seeks an artist internally without hosting a national final.
As reported by Russia’s head of delegation, Yuri Aksyuta, he is thinking any possible alternatives at this particular moment. The country is likely to choose both an artist and a song internally, as anticipated.
Russia is one of the most successful countries in Eurovision and despite its short participation history, counts one win and ten top five places.
Last May, Sergey Lazarev represented 🇷🇺 Russia in Tel Aviv, 🇮🇱 Israel and his performance of “Scream” got 370 points and came 3rd at the Grand Final.
