Malta have just revealed their entrant Destiny to perform at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest! The Maltese broadcaster PBS, decided to pick their artist through the popular television show X Factor Malta‘s second season. The broadcaster will reveal the song at a later date.
Who is Destiny?
The Maltese representative, Destiny, is a 17-year-old Maltese girl. We, the Eurovision fans, know Destiny during her Junior Eurovision times. Destiny represented Malta in Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2015 which was held in the capital city of Bulgaria, Sofia. She was the winner of JESC 2015 and Malta made history as winning for the second time in Junior Eurovision, thanks to Destiny.
After the Junior Eurovision, Destiny auditioned for Briatin’s Got Talent and Simon Cowell told these:
“Have been waiting for someone to come out who could be a star and Destiny may be the one…”
Destiny’s song Not My Soul won the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2015 with record-breaking 185 points.
X Factor Malta
PBS, the national broadcaster, on the day of 11th October, announced that the second season of X Factor Malta will be used as the Maltese national final to select the artist to sing at Eurovision 2020. Last year, Michela, who represented Malta with the song Chameleon, was selected with the same way. She got 14th place in the Grand-Final of Eurovision Song Contest 2019 which was held in Tel Aviv, Israel.
Tonight Kyle Cutajar the act from the category boys, Destiny Chukunyere and Justine Shorfid from the category girls and F.A.I.T.H. from the category groups competed to be the one who is going to sing for Malta at this year’s contest.
Destiny has been such a similar face to Eurovision fans as we remember her from the Junior Eurovision. Also she was a part of the Maltese delegation last year. She was one of the back-vocalists of Michela’s performance.
Malta will perform in the second half of the First Semi Final. Last year Michela represented Malta with the song Chameleon and finished in #14th place with 107 points.
